Welcome Readers!
After an absence of far too many years, I am back with a new website and new stories.
For those of you who know me, no, I didn’t fall off the edge of the world. Real Life just got in the way. I actually have been writing throughout much of these years, but it hasn’t been until now that I’m to the point where I can start publishing again. I will be focusing almost entirely on the fantasy and science fiction genres, although I do have a couple of children’s stories written many years ago that I might decide to publish now that I have the means to create the artwork myself.
Any of you who have read my paranormal romance “From the Ashes” might notice that it’s no longer on my Amazon.com author page. To find out why, please visit the All Books page.
For of you who don’t know me, the bio below will tell you a few things about me and my creative writing history.
A Little About Me
Though I was born in California, I have spent most of my life in the beautiful state of Oregon and considers myself to be a native Oregonian. I’m a self-taught graphic artist and website designer. Besides writing, I am also an avid reader, and I love taking landscape photography, when I can find the time. The image on the header of this website is from a photo I took of Oregon’s Crater Lake.
My first foray into creative writing happened back in the fifth grade, thanks to a teacher who was nuts about it and had every kid in her classroom cranking out a new story each week. It wasn’t until many years later, however, that I returned to writing when I enrolled in a correspondence course from the Institute of Children’s Literature. I eventually came to the conclusion that writing children’s stories wasn’t a good fit for me, and my writing languished again.
A number of years after that, I dove headlong into the world of fan fiction writing, which became my passion for the next fourteen years. I credit those years of experience creating fan fiction stories with the vast improvement of my writing skills. Despite the disdain many other writers have for fan fiction writing, I learned a lot from it and don’t regret for a moment the years I put into it. I would encourage any budding author to step into that world for a while to hone their craft. Though you won’t make a dime on any of your stories, it can be quite rewarding emotionally and a whole lot of fun.
In 2012, I decided to finally take the plunge and write a book for publication. That book was “From the Ashes,” the paranormal romance mentioned above. Unfortunately, Real Life got in the way. Though I did start work on other stories, the time I devoted to writing was rather sporadic. It has only been the last couple of years or so that I have been able to focus more attention on my writing. Which leads me to now and at last being ready to publish again after ten and a half years. Yay!
Well, that’s it. I hope you enjoy wandering around my site. Please do comment, or, if you prefer, send me a message.
