Almost there!
Well, it has been a very long time coming, but I am finally just about ready to publish one of the novels I have been working on and off on for quite a few years: My Adventures in Time-Traveling (MAITT, for short). It’s been so long since I first got the idea for this story that I can’t remember how far back it was. Or can I not remember because I’m getting old? No, no. Scratch that. It’s definitely only because it has been such a long time.
So why has it been so long? I could blame it all on Real Life, but the truth is that there are lots of reasons besides that. Whenever I start writing a story, at least one of three things is going to eventually happen. One, my interest will temporarily wane (sometimes permanently); two, my creative juices will clog up, and I’ll get the dreaded writer’s block; three, a new story will suddenly pop into my head and demand center stage. All three of those things happened more than once while writing MAITT. For several years now, it has been in competition for my attention with the Half-Blood Trilogy. Before that, it was in competition with a story named The Wellspring of Life, a fantasy story I suspect might never be finished. Before that … Yeah, I think you get the picture.
To prepare for the publication of MAITT, I needed to do something else first: make this new website. I did have a site under mthayer.com (no “L”) that was devoted to my writing, but it stopped working and couldn’t be saved, so I decided to start from scratch with a domain name that matched my author name.
As for social media venues, I know I should have a presence on at least one or two of them, but I haven’t decided which ones. Facebook will never have me as one of its vic— Er, um, one of its account holders. I will never become entangled by its brazen privacy violation practices. I have a Twitter account under my full name, but I don’t know if it would be worth the time to create a new one for _mlthayer (mlthayer without the underscore is taken). Forget Instagram, Pininterest, and TikTok. They’d be of no use to me since they’re all about images and/or videos. I do plan on setting up an account on YouTube for the purpose of posting advertising videos for my books. I will likely also create an account on Goodreads since it’s specifically for writers and readers.
Wow. I’ve got a lot of stuff to do, don’t I.

Yay! I got a comment! Oh, wait. I posted this one. I guess that doesn’t count, huh.
No, but look! Now, I’ve posted a comment too! Congrats!
No, you don’t count either because you’re also me.
I am?
Yes, you are. Look at your user name. It’s “Test User.” Who would use that except an admin doing testing?
So, I’m you, not me? I think I’m having an existential crisis here.
